MARCH 10, 2026 REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
A Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was
held Tuesday March 10, 2026. Supervisor Charter called the meeting to order at
7:00 p.m. All present recited The Pledge of Allegiance.
Present were Trustees: Alana
Horkey, Ken Jaworski, Tim Miles, Gary Lazette, Supervisor Ron Charter, Clerk
Karla Ziesmer, and Treasurer Lisa Ost. Clerk Ziesmer did roll call.

Treasurer Ost moved to revise the
agenda to correct the
spelling of Treasurer’s last name under Roll Call, and add under New Business a
discussion to form a three-member board committee to review Planning Commission
applications and recommend candidates to the Supervisor. Trustee Lazette
seconded. Motion carried.

Trustee Lazette moved to revise the
agenda to add a second public comment period after New Business. Treasurer Ost
seconded. Discussion followed regarding the structure of the additional public
comment section. Motion carried. Trustee Jaworski not in favor.
·
Treasurer Ost moved to approve the Budget
Workshop Meeting Minutes held on February 24, 2026, and waive the reading of
such. Trustee Horkey seconded. Motion carried.

Trustee Miles moved to approve the Regular
Meeting Minutes held on February 24, 2026 and waive the reading of such. Treasurer
Ost seconded. Motion carried.

Treasurer Ost moved to approve the Special
Meeting Minutes held on February 26, 2026, and waive the reading of such.
Trustee Lazette seconded. Motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE:
None
PUBLIC COMMENT: Several residents addressed the Board regarding
concerns about potential data center development in the region, environmental
impacts, transparency in decision-making, and tax incentives for large
industrial projects. Speakers included individuals from Berlin Township,
Frenchtown Township, and local residents near the proposed site. Comments
encouraged the Township to consider alternatives such as ecotourism and to
prioritize community input and environmental protection.
OFFICIAL
REPORTS
LIBRARY:
Jennifer Grunewski, Area Supervisor with the Monroe County
Library System, presented the Dundee Branch report. Highlights included:
- Dundee ranked third in circulation
among county branches in January.
- 412 program attendees participated
in library events.
- Upcoming programming includes youth
and adult book clubs, playgroups, gaming events, and a reading by local
author Danielle Camara on Saturday March 21.
- Free tax preparation services will
be available on Tuesday March 31 for qualifying households.
ASSESSING:
The Board of
Review concluded its meetings, with final statistics forthcoming.
BUILDING
DEPARTMENT: No report at this time.
FIRE DEPARTMENT: Chief was absent due to training. The department has
remained very
busy with fire calls and mutual aid responses.
TREASURER
LISA OST: Settlement with
the county is underway but slightly delayed due to Monroe County transitioning
to the BS&A cloud system. The statutory settlement deadline remains March
31.
TRUSTEE GARY LAZETTE:
·
The Township received three quotes for painting the
Dundee Library interior.
·
Emergency sirens throughout the county have been
upgraded and are now operational.
·
The Township’s Water Franchise Agreement with the
Village (2000) expires in 2030 and will need renegotiation.
CLERK
KARLA ZIESMER: No report at this time.
SUPERVISOR
CHARTER: Supervisor Charter reported he is continuing to transition into the role
and expressed appreciation for the Board’s support.
TRUSTEE
TIM MILES: No report at this time.
TRUSTEE
KEN JAWORSKI: Announced cemetery cleanup deadline of March 15. All
items on the ground will be removed beginning March 16; decorations may be
returned after April 1.
TRUSTEE
ALANA HORKEY: No report at this time.
OLD
BUSINESS: Trustee Jaworski moved to accept Proposal
1A from Timothy Miles for development
of a Township website for $3,500,
with maintenance available at $50 per hour as needed. Trustee Horkey
seconded. Discussion included website
ownership, hosting security, ADA and Section 508 compliance, and design
improvements. Motion carried. Trustee Lazette not in favor.
NEW
BUSINESS:

Monroe county Road Commission Contracts –
2026
The
Board reviewed proposed road maintenance contracts recommended by the Monroe
County Road Commission. Total Township cost: $551,309, County contribution: $35,000. Trustee Horkey moved
to
approve the 2026 Road Improvement Estimates as presented. Treasurer Ost
seconded. Motion carried.
·
Bragg Road Bridge Grant Opportunity
The
Board received information regarding a potential state grant application for
the Bragg Road Bridge
replacement, which could involve an estimated 80/20 state-to-township funding split.
The Township may consider applying later this year.

Planning Commission Application Review
Committee
Discussion
occurred regarding forming a board committee to review Planning Commission
applicants.
Motion
to create a three-member
board committee consisting of Supervisor Charter, Trustee Lazette and Treasurer
Ost to review applicants and make recommendations to the
Supervisor. Trustee Horkey moved to approve the three-member committee. Clerk
Ziesmer seconded. Motion carried.
SECOND
PUBLIC COMMENT: None
Additional
board comments:
·
Board members expressed appreciation for the service
of Art Bronson and Dave Sedler for their many years of service on the Planning
Commission. The Board discussed presenting them with certificates recognizing
their contributions.
·
Supervisor Charter also thanked Township staff and
board members for their work during the recent supervisor vacancy and for their
continued support during the transition.
Trustee
Lazette moved to pay bills in the amount of $34,821.81. Trustee Jaworski
seconded. Motion carried.
Trustee
Lazette moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:51 p.m. Treasurer Ost seconded.

The
next Budget Workshop Meeting is scheduled for March 19
at 5:00 p.m.
The next Board Meeting will be March 24,
2026 at 7:00 p.m. with Budget Workshop at 6:00 p.m.
