27, 2026 BUDGET WORKSHOP MINUTES
A
Budget Workshop Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday January
27, 2026. Clerk Ziesmer called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Present were: Trustees:
Horkey, Jaworski, Miles, Lazette, Clerk Ziesmer and Treasurer Ost. Clerk
Ziesmer did roll call. Supervisor Lewis was excused.
Due to the absence of Supervisor Lewis, Clerk
Ziesmer moved to appoint Trustee Alana Horkey to chair the meeting. Trustee
Jaworski seconded. Motion carried.
Discussion Items:
- Preliminary
Budget / Fire Department: Reviewed Fire Department
equipment and facility needs, including turnout gear and portable radios,
and discussed using current payroll savings to cover purchases this year
while budgeting for similar needs next year. Additional needs discussed:
floor stripping/waxing, LED lighting replacement (bids pending), carpet
replacement, coffee machine, and future replacement of the fire hall video
system (possible in 2026).
- Firefighter
Compensation: Discussed current $23-per-call flat rate and the concept of keeping
flat rate for the first two hours, with hourly pay for calls exceeding two
hours, as a retention/morale strategy. No action taken.
- Salary Reviews: General
discussion included deputy positions and election inspectors; no decisions
recorded in the excerpt.
- Permit Fee
Revenues: Reviewed budget vs. activity for
building/electrical/plumbing/mechanical permit fees; discussed raising the
building permit revenue projection based on higher activity.
- Equipment &
Maintenance: Discussed copier quote and general equipment replacement
considerations. Discussed township hall/library maintenance items and
obtaining quotes where needed.
- Appointments: Noted progress
and continued need for additional Board of Review members/alternates.
- Contracts &
Grounds: Discussed custodial contracts, mowing, snow removal, and cemetery
tree removals (quotes to be pursued).
- Roads: Reviewed
updated road project packet and estimates; discussed intersection safety
concerns and missing estimates for certain requested roads.
Trustee Lazette motioned to
adjourn at 6:05 p.m. Treasurer Ost seconded. Motion carried.
The next Budget Workshop will
be February 10, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.
