A Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, December 12, 2023. Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 

 

Present were: Trustees: Travis Horkey, Ken Jaworski, Supervisor Uhl, Clerk Anderson, Gary Lazette & Treasurer Hunt. Excused Absence: Alana Horkey. Supervisor Uhl did roll call.

 

• Trustee Jaworski motioned to approve the agenda. Trustee Travis Horkey supported. Motion carried.
• Treasurer Hunt motioned to waive the reading and approve the minutes omitting the fire calls from the regular meeting held on November 28, 2023. Trustee Lazette seconded. Trustee Travis Horkey, Trustee Jaworski & Clerk Anderson abstained. Motion carried.
• Treasurer Hunt motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report for October 2023. Trustee Travis Horkey seconded. Motion carried.
• Treasurer Hunt motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report for November 2023. Supervisor Uhl seconded. Motion carried.
• Treasurer Hunt motioned to waive the reading and approve the correspondences as presented. Trustee Travis Horkey seconded. Motion carried.

BUILDING DEPARTMENT: No report at this time.

 

FIRE DEPARTMENT:

• Total fire calls this month were:
• Presented Lexipol Grant Writing Company for 7 mutual townships for a Grant for radios, chargers and batteries for all 7 townships at a cost of $1,395.00 per township. Supervisor Uhl motioned to enter into an agreement with Lexipol to write a grant for radios, chargers, microphones and batteries for all 7 townships at a cost of $1,395.00 per township. Treasurer Hunt seconded.
• Presented a cost breakdown for turnout gear for 8 firemen at a cost of $65,700 plus painting interior rooms and new chairs for an additional cost of $3,080.00.

 

TREASURER LISA HUNT:

• Michigan Class Investments made $4,000 in interest.
• Ida School Millage was not added to the tax bill, revised tax bills were sent out to 261 residents.  

 

SUPERVISOR UHL:

• Kerry Bondy’s rate is increasing to $155 from $150 previous rate.
• Kent Road and Rea Road for a tree removed at a cost $2,400 to be done using excess gradall funds.
• Using a new chloride and brine for roads would be a cost of $82,000.
• Dundee Village is considering discontinuing the Code Red System, cost is paid by Village & Township.

 

CLERK JEAN ANDERSON:

• D&P installed the new phone system at the Township Hall and the new phone service at the library in mid-December. Thank you, Trustee Lazette for continuing to be the voice of Dundee Township.
• Submitted resignation, willing to remain on until a new clerk is appointed and work to train new clerk.

 

TRUSTEE GARY LAZETTE:  

• The library hot water heater was installed.

 

TRUSTEE TRAVIS HORKEY: No report at this time.

 

TRUSTEE KEN JAWORSKI:

• Will following up with Knight’s of Pythias.

 

TRUSTEE ALANA HORKEY: No report at this time.

 

OLD BUSINESS:  

• Trustee Lazette motioned to approve ADA Doors for Library for $2,674 and Firehall for $5,319 using the Par Grant awarded and ARPA funds for remaining costs. Treasurer Hunt seconded. Motion carried.
• Garage Door Quotes presented from LaRoy Door and Roeco. Further discussion at next meeting.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

• Mannik Smith Group Proposal for Planning Consultant Services reviewed. Trustee Lazette motioned to accept Mannik Smith Group as Planning Consultants at a rate of $125 per hour for Principal Planner/Project Manager rate and $104 per hour for the GIS Specialist rate with the terms and conditions as presented. Trustee Travis Horkey seconded. Motion carried.
• Turnout Gear Discussion with two quotes presented. The first quote for responder gear for 8 firemen. Trustee Jaworski motioned to approve the purchase of firemen responder gear from Phoenix Safety Outfitters at a cost of $3,168.00 using ARPA funds if available or 2012 Fire Millage Funds. Treasurer Hunt seconded. Motion carried.

The second quote for turnout gear for $32,614.50 for 8 firemen. Supervisor Uhl motioned to purchase a set of 8 turnout gear for firemen at a cost of $32,614.50 using ARPA if available funds or using 2012 Fire Millage Funds. Treasurer Hunt seconded. Motion carried.

• EMT Classes discussed. Supervisor Uhl motioned to have 9 firemen training for $13,500 to LifeChoice Education Group, LLC using ARPA funds, prioritizing using ARPA funds first. Trustee Travis Horkey seconded. Motion carried.
• Trustee Lazette motioned to cancel the December 26 Board Meeting. Treasurer Hunt seconded. Motion carried.

 

Additional board comments:

• Treasurer Hunt stated Ms. Cross will include Dundee Township with school community art projects.
• Trustee Jaworski stated the board will need to discuss the financial specialist at the next meeting.

 

Trustee Lazette motioned to pay the bills from December 7, 2023 in the amount of $13,481.25. Treasurer Hunt seconded. Motion Carried.

 

Treasurer Hunt motioned to adjourn at 8:47pm. Trustee Jaworski supported. Motion carried.

 

The next meeting will be December 26, 2023 at 7:00PM.
