DUNDEE TOWNSHIP

REGULAR MEETING

NOVEMBER 9, 2021

 

A Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, November 9, 2021.  Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Present were: Supervisor Uhl, Treasurer Hunt, Clerk Sanders and Trustees: Gary Lazette, CJ Horkey, Ken Jaworski & Travis Horkey. Trustee Ken Jaworski made a motion to adopt the agenda. Trustee Gary Lazette supported. Motion carried.

Clerk Sanders made a motion to approve the regular meeting minutes from the meeting held on October 26, 2021 & waive the reading. Trustee Travis Horkey supported. Motion carried. There was one item of correspondence, a notice of hearing- DTE case no. U-21087. Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to place the item of correspondence on file & waive the reading. Trustee Ken Jaworski supported. Motion carried.  

One Township resident attended Tuesday’s meeting to give an update on the on-going ordinance issue.

In official reports, Jennifer from the Dundee Library attended the meeting to give an update. The library has started a range of children’s/teen & tween programs & also had an outdoor concert in October. The hours for the library have almost returned to their normal hours of operation before covid closures. Supervisor Uhl & Trustees CJ Horkey, Ken Jaworski, Travis Horkey and Gary Lazette had no official reports at this time. Clerk Sanders also had nothing to report at this time. Treasurer Hunt gave an update on the plan to print tax bills through a company used by the Assessor. After giving an update on cost difference, the township would save around $500.00 or more. Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to approve the treasurer to outsource the tax bill printing & mailing not to exceed $2400.00. Trustee Travis Horkey supported. Motion carried.

In old business, the board discussed MCRC contracts.

Treasurer Hunt made a motion to approve the Supervisor & Clerk to sign & mail the contracts in the amount of $219,566.00. Trustee Ken Jaworski supported. Motion carried.

The board also discussed in more detail the ideas for county ARPA funds. Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to approve Treasurer Hunt to apply for the county ARPA funds with a plan being Township road projects in the amount of $390,000.00. $110,000.00 will be pledged from the Township road millage & $70,000.00 would be pledged from the Federal ARPA funds. Requesting $180,000.00 in County ARPA funds. Treasurer Hunt supported. Motion carried.

The board also discussed applying for County ARPA funds to help the Fire Department. Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to have Treasurer Hunt apply for $65,000.00 from the County ARPA. The board would like to give $150,000.00 to the Fire Fighters with $85,000.00 being pledged from the Federal ARPA funds & asking for $65,000.00 from the County ARPA. Treasurer Hunt supported. Motion carried.

 

In new business, the Dundee Township personal property canvass policy was discussed. Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to adopt the Dundee Township personal Property canvas policy. Trustee Ken Jaworski supported. Motion carried.

The Dundee Township property exemption policy & procedures were also discussed. Supervisor Uhl made a motion to adopt the Dundee Township property exemption policy & procedures. Trustee Gary Lazette supported. Motion carried.

The board also discussed Resolution 2021-8 (Waiving penalties for non-filing of property transfer affidavits). After discussion Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to adopt resolution 2021-8 as presented. Clerk Sanders Supported. A roll call was taken.

The vote was as follows. Yes=7   No=0. Motion carried.

 

ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL BOARD COMMENTS: 

Treasurer Hunt inquired about the township attorney’s opinion regarding the ordinance issue. After discussion it was determined that more information is needed from the Ordinance officer.

 

Trustee Ken Jaworski made a motion to pay the bills for 11/4/21 in the amount of $12,675.26. Treasurer Hunt supported. Motion carried.

 

 

Trustee Gary Lazette made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Treasurer Hunt supported.  Motion carried.  The meeting adjourned at 8:44p.m.    The next meeting will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
