A Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday February 11, 2025. Supervisor Lewis called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All present recited The Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Present were: Trustees: Alana Horkey, Ken Jaworski, Tim Miles, Gary Lazette, Supervisor Lewis, Clerk Ziesmer, Treasurer Hunt. Clerk Ziesmer did roll call.

 

• Treasurer Hunt motioned to adopt the agenda. Trustee Horkey seconded. Motion carried.
• Treasurer Hunt motioned to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held on January 28, 2025. Trustee Lazette seconded. Motion carried.
• Trustee Miles motioned to approve the minutes from the Budget Workshop held on January 28, 2025. Treasurer Hunt seconded. Motion carried.
• Treasurer Hunt motioned to accept and waive the reading of the one correspondence and place on file. Trustee Horkey Seconded. Motion carried.

 

CORRESPONDENCE:  Drain Commission Meeting on March 3, 2025.

                                       

PUBLIC COMMENT:

• Howard Ciley gave his thanks to Supervisor Lewis and Trustee Lazette for attending the Village meeting. Spoke briefly on the two Firemen that attended the meeting and the donation to the Fire Department. He would like in the future for the Village and Township to work together.
• Nathan Ruetz introduced himself to the Board members. He is applying for the Ordinance Office position.

 

OFFICIAL REPORTS

 

LIBRARY: January statistics are not in yet. Jennifer provided pictures of all the Library programs. If School is closed, children’s programs are canceled, but Library is still open.

 

ASSESSING: No report at this time.

 

BUILDING DEPARTMENT: At the next Planning Commission Meeting, Brian Palka is expanding his special use permit by building a new Pole Barn off Irish Rd.

 

FIRE DEPARTMENT:

• Total calls for January were 89. Village Calls: 67, Township Calls: 18, Mutual Aid Calls: 4.
• Fire Hall needs new CO/NO2 Gas Detection Sensors. Treasurer Hunt motioned to approve the quote from MAP (Michigan Air Products) in the amount of $4765, to purchase and have installed the new CO/NO2 sensors. Trustee Horkey seconded. Motion carried.
• Gratitude was conveyed to the Village for Donating $16,000.00 for new Ice Rescue Equipment

 

TREASURER LISA HUNT: Continuing to collect taxes, had over 50 people in office today.

 

TRUSTEE GARY LAZETTE:  Electrical Code Seminar was rescheduled to the first week in March. Contacted Mark Kohler to have site and floor plans drawn up for a new Township Hall by the Fire Department.

 

CLERK KARLA ZIESMER: No report at this time.

 

SUPERVISOR LEWIS: No report at this time.

 

TRUSTEE TIM MILES: No report at this time.

 

TRUSTEE KEN JAWORSKI: Cemeteries have to be cleaned up by March 15^th.

 

TRUSTEE ALANA HORKEY:  No report at this time.

 

OLD BUSINESS: Board of Review Member Penny Gutierrez has moved from an alternate to permanent member. Treasurer Hunt motioned to appoint Kelly Orr as the new alternate for Board of Review. Trustee Lazette seconded. Motion carried.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

• Supervisor Lewis motioned to hire Nathan Ruetz as the new Ordinance Officer and Liquor Inspector for Dundee Township. Trustee Miles Seconded. Motion carried.
• Supervisor Lewis motioned to accept the extension agreement for Library Cleaning from Auxillo for the 2025-2026 Budget year. Clerk Ziesmer seconded. Motion carried.

 

Additional board comments:

• Trustee Jaworski motioned to post new bids for Snow Removal for Township, Library and Fire Department in the Independent. Trustee Miles seconded. Motion carried.
• Treasurer Hunt commented that the last day to pay Taxes falls on Friday February 28^th. The Treasurers office will be closed that day, but will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on February 27^th. Friday taxes can be paid at a local institution.

 

Trustee Hunt motioned to pay bills from February 6, 2025 in the amount of $17,665.64. Trustee Lazette seconded. Motion Carried.

 

Trustee Jaworski motioned to adjourn at 7:33 p. m. Treasurer Hunt supported. Motion Carried.
