Regular Meeting - Minutes
March 17, 2010
The regular meeting of the Planning Commission was brought to order by Vice-Chairman Ed Proctor at 7:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and roll call was taken at this time, these members were present: Chuck Ruehs, Jeanette Brockman, George Horkey, Building Inspector Bob Madaski, David Sedlar and Liaison Gary Lazette. Chairman Art Bronson was an excused absence. .
The minutes to the February meeting were unanimously accepted after Mr. Sedlar made the motion to accept them as printed and Mr. Ruehs supported that motion.
Mr. Lazette made the motion to accept the March agenda as printed, Ms Brockman supported his motion and all were in favor.
Public present - Diane Fisher stated that she is the Fundraising Specialist for the Dundee Assembly of God Church and they were planning a one day Fundraising Auction/Garage Sale. She noted she had talked to Chairman Art Bronson and that he said that she didn't have to attend the meeting. What she planned on doing was allowed under the current ordinance. After a short presentation she requested a signed letter stating that they are permitted to have a Consignment Auction on their property and that there are no other special approvals, permits or fees required.
Liaison Gary Lazette said that the Township Board has a meeting the following Tuesday and that he would present it to the Board.

Scheduled Business
A. Building Permits - Building Permits #BP100003 - #BP100005 was presented to the Commissioners.
B. Discuss Solar Energy Ordinance and readdress Outside Woodburning Furnace Ordinance - Mr. Lazette said that he attended a seminar in Lansing and that a representative of DTE Energy noted that money was becoming available for Solar Energy Incentives. He urged communities to get their ordinances up to date to handle the anticipated increase in Solar Energy interest. Mr. Lazette handed out a copy of a Solar Energy Ordinance to all of the Commissioners present so they could review it before the next meeting.
Mr. Madaski noted that the DEQ required a 20' stack on all Outside Woodburning Furnaces. He said that he had a copy of a Model Ordinance from the DEQ and he would leave a copy at the Township office. Mr. Sedlar said that he would get a copy to everyone before the next meeting.
C. Appointment of Planning Commission Officers and discuss items pertaining to Planning Commission Bylaws - Mr. Lazette stated that according to the Planning Commission Bylaws and Rules of Procedure the officers of the Planning Commisson shall be selected every January. Also there were four members of the DTPC that were up for reappointment to two year terms; Mr. Bronson, Mr. Sedlar, Mr. Ruehs and Mr. Horkey. The Township Board voted to extend their appointments from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2012. Ms. Brockman made a motion to keep officers as is, Mr. Ruehs seconded the motion and all were in favor.
Mr. Lazette brought to the Commissioners attention Section 4 items D - H, mainly item D prepare an annual written report to the Township Board. Mr. Sedlar said he would come up with a rough draft and present it at the next regular meeting.
With nothing further Mr. Sedlar moved to adjourn the meeting, Ms. Brockman seconded this motion, it was unanimously accepted. Meeting adjourned 7:32 p.m.
