OFFICIAL REPORTS
Supervisor Uhl
The FEMA grant site has been updated and sites that were previously unavailable may now be accessed. Supervisor Uhl and Treasurer Sontag can now complete the application. Supervisor Uhl will contact two firms that specialize in grant writing for a presentation for the next board meeting to be held June 23, 2009. A meeting with Supervisor Uhl, Treasurer Sontag and Trustee Lazette and the road commission will be held on Monday June 22, 2009.
Assessing Department
The assessing database has been rolled over for 2010 allowing the township and the village to start printing their 2009 tax bills. The Bedford Township Hall will be hosting a 14 Point Review Class held by Rick Watza of the State Tax Commission on Friday June 12th which will be attended by Chris Fricke and Mike Miletti. Discussions regarding county multipliers, changes in equalization and sales study date changes occurred at the Monroe County Assessor's Association meeting on May 20th.
Trustee Lazette
Prices are being obtained for programmable thermostats for the township hall. The hall is closed Friday through Sunday and automatic thermostats will control the climate in the hall for a potential cost savings. Approximately one half mile along Dunbar Road is being considered for the PMS project. It has been determined that Petersburg Road is not a likely candidate for the PMS due to high berms and inadequate drainage. Due to the high rate of foreclosures in the area a high grass and weed ordinance will be investigated. Other townships will be contacted for comparison.
Trustee Juckette
The closing of businesses in the area and the large amount of foreclosures are leading to numerous tax tribunal claims. Trustee Juckette suggested that Supervisor Uhl and Michael Miletti contact the other taxing entities regarding support for legal representation should the need arise. The road commission held a meeting last Monday and many township's are requesting that the mowing and chloride maintenance be funded by the road commission due to lack of tax dollars being collected. The Radka Road ditch project is hampered by the road commission's insistence that the work be performed from the inside of the ditch and not the berm side. If the berm is not removed the drainage will not reach the ditch to benefit the road.
Trustee Winkelman
The following fire calls were responded to for the month of May:
Calls Township Village
Fires 4 3
Rescues 19
Personal Injury Accidents 1
Mutual Aid 1
Other calls 3 3
Total calls for the month of May were 34.
The air conditioner in the radio room is not operating properly. It will possibly need to be replaced.
The 22-7 fire truck has been delivered back to the hall after the repairs from the accident. A fund raising boot drive was held the past weekend. A fire department team will be walking in the cancer Relay for Life walk-a-thon this coming weekend.
Treasurer Sontag
The summer tax bills will be sent out between the 25th and the 30th of June to be received by the July 1st deadline.
Clerk O'Lone
The state is urging the schools to change their election dates to coincide with the presidential and gubernatorial elections. This consolidation would initiate the use of five different ballot styles per election.
A dead fish was put in the library after hours drop box. If this occurs again the police will be contacted.
