DUNDEE TOWNSHIP

REGULAR MEETING

AUGUST 24, 2021

 

A Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, August 24, 2021.  Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Present were: Supervisor Uhl, Treasurer Hunt, Clerk Sanders and Trustees: Gary Lazette, CJ Horkey, Ken Jaworski & Travis Horkey. Supervisor Uhl asked that the board to revise the agenda to move the Monroe Conservation District contribution discussion from new business to right after the correspondence. Trustee CJ Horkey made the motion to adopt the agenda with that revision. Trustee Ken Jaworski supported. Motion carried.

Trustee Gary Lazette made a motion to approve the regular meeting minutes from July

27^th 2021. Trustee Travis Horkey supported. Trustee CJ Horkey abstained. Motion

carried. Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to approve the treasurers report for July

2021. Clerk Sanders supported. Motion carried. Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to

Add items of correspondence to file & waive the reading. Trustee Ken Jaworski

supported. Motion carried.

 

Zach and 2 others from the Monroe Conservation District came to the meeting to

discuss the work that the conservation district does, their work with local farmers,

fundraising, equipment they have for rent & their request for the Township donate

to the conservation district for them to continue to with assisting landowners/managers

in the wise management of our natural resources. Trustee CJ Horkey made a

motion that the board contribute $750.00 to the Monroe Conservation District. Treasurer

Hunt supported. Motion carried.

 

Public comment:

A township resident attended the meeting to discuss their thoughts on the possible offer from the village of Dundee about the offices on the second floor.

Assessing Department: None.

 

Building Department: None.

 

Supervisor Uhl: Supervisor Uhl discussed being contacted by someone at Holcim. Holcim asked that we at some point develop a check list for callers so that they can be forwarded with any information we take in.

 

Trustee C.J Horkey: The Fire Department would like to purchase safety chains & straps for their extraction equipment. Treasurer Hunt made a motion to approve the fire department to purchase the needed equipment in the amount of, but not exceeding $3000.00

 

Trustee Lazette: Trustee Lazette discussed the lighting issue that the library is having. Some lighting fixtures need to be replaced. Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to approve the replacement of the lighting fixtures in the amount/not to exceed $30.00. Trustee Jaworski supported. Motion carried.

 

Trustee Travis Horkey:  None.

 

Trustee Jaworski: Gave an update on the cemetery. Received a call about a tree down at Maple Grove, by the end of the day it was already taken care of.

 

Trustee Hunt: Treasurer Hunt discussed the bridge between Collins & day. Residents are concerned about the condition of the bridge. Also mentioned that some residents brought up that Petersburg Rd was not sprayed for dust control.

 

Clerk Sanders: Clerk Sanders discussed a training in-person conference that was recommended through Michigan Township Association for the clerk & treasurer on September 13^th & 14^th 2021 called “Up North Summit”. She asked that the board approve the clerk & treasurer to register for the conference at a cost of $220.00 per person. This includes 2 full days of different classes and dinner. Supervisor Uhl made a motion to approve the Clerk & Treasurer to register for the conference in the amount of $220.00 per person. Trustee Jaworski supported. Motion carried.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Zoning Ordinance Amendment Adoption: Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to adopt Zoning Ordinance 2021-1-Z, with the change to the amount of time line from 180 Days to 365 Days in section 7.3 P14. Treasurer Hunt supported. A roll call was taken.

Vote was unanimous. Motion carried.

 

Day Rd. Bridge- State program: Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion to leave Day rd. bridge on the State bridge bundling program. Clerk Sanders supported. Motion carried.

 

NEW BUSINESS: None.

 

ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL BOARD COMMENTS: 

Trustee CJ Horkey asked that the Village discussion be added to the agenda.

 

 

Trustee CJ Horkey made a motion & Trustee Gary Lazette supported, to pay the bills from August 8^th 2021 in the amount of $41,788.52.  Motion carried.  

 

Treasurer Hunt made a motion & Trustee Travis Horkey supported, to pay the bills from August 19^th 2021 in the amount of $43,981.99. Motion carried.

 

Motion made by Trustee Gary Lazette & supported by Treasurer Hunt to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.  The meeting adjourned at 8:35p.m.    The next meeting will be Tuesday, August 14, 2021 at 7pm.
