A Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Supervisor Uhl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 

 

Present were: Trustees: Alana Horkey, Ken Jaworski, Travis Horkey, Supervisor Uhl, Clerk Anderson, & Gary Lazette. Excused Absence: Treasurer Hunt Clerk Anderson did roll call.

 

  • Trustee Jaworski to approve the agenda. Trustee Lazette supported. Motion carried.
  • Trustee Lazette motioned to waive the reading and approve the minutes from the regular meeting held on September 26, 2023. Trustee Jaworski seconded. Motion carried.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT:

-       Howard Cilley commented on being able to hear trustees speaking during meetings. He also commented on being approached by Mr. Scott Desbrough.

-       Tim Bordine commented on complaints from Dundee Ridge residents regarding the Dundee Products. Would like to meet with Township and Dundee Products Management.

-       Ryan Zink commented on Dundee Products noise.

-       Ricky Rod commented on Clean Tech waste smell. Will speak to the Village regarding concerns since Clean Tech is in the Village. He also commented about the Fire Department previous millage money available and using it to meet the needs of the Fire Department.

 

OFFICIAL REPORTS

LIBRARY: Jennifer spoke about events being held at the library.

 

ASSESSING: No report at this time.

 

BUILDING DEPARTMENT: No report at this time.

 

FIRE DEPARTMENT:

-       State hose inspection completed. State identified several feet of hose which will need to be replaced. Working on bids to replace, around $10,000.

 

TREASURER LISA HUNT: No report at this time.

 

SUPERVISOR UHL:

  • The township Halloween time suggested to match the Village Halloween time. Trustee Lazette motioned to match the Village Halloween time. Motion carried.
  • Monroe County Drain Commission will use our Township Hall on November 28th during business hours.
  • Update on Day Road bridge replacement, the funding source is no longer available. Additional sources are being determined.
  • Met with the manager of Dundee Products and building inspector, Dennis Kolar. Dundee Products meets the township ordinances and building codes. Further discussion and options being evaluated.
  • Manic & Smith is being considered for our new planning firm.

 

CLERK JEAN ANDERSON:

  • Absentee ballots are being distributed, 16 have been returned.
  • County Clerk’s meeting is this week.
  • Chairs were ordered and will be delivered this week. Will need assembled.
  • GL cleanup is still being completed with more work needed, including the state chart of accounts compliance. Need to determine additional funds to keep Jim longer to complete these updates.
  • Updated Trial Balance presented. Discussed the board to decide guidelines for funds to pay bills from when not identified. Will email details to board for the areas.  

 

TRUSTEE GARY LAZETTE:

  • Treasurer’s office door has been installed. At a higher cost than quoted due to an unexpended block wall needed to be cut.
  • Attended MTA meeting, where SEMCOG (South East Michigan Council of Government) discussed support options for broad band internet in rural areas.
  • The library wall project is underway with a gas line issue being addressed.
  • Commented on the fire department’s frog leg dinner fundraiser.

 

TRUSTEE TRAVIS HORKEY: No report at this time.

 

TRUSTEE KEN JAWORSKI:

  • Working with The Red Shirts on scheduling clean up the cemetery.

 

TRUSTEE ALANA HORKEY:

  • No report at this time.

 

OLD BUSINESS:  

 

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Road Commission Contracts for new work presented. Supervisor Uhl motioned to approve the 3 quotes presented using Road Millage Funds with the portion exceeding the budgeted amount to be paid from the Road Millage Fund Balance. Trustee Alana Horkey seconded. Motion carried.
  • Election Camera quotes reviewed. Trustee Jaworski motioned to approve Chrome Enterprise for camera installation using election funds. Trustee Alana Horkey seconded. Motion carried. Trustee Jaworski approved Chrome Enterprise to purchase and install the network switch with quote as presented to using general maintenance funds or ARPA funds if applicable. Motion carried.

 

Additional board comments:

-       Trustee Ken comments on the fire department fundraiser.

-       Fire Chief Dan stated there have been 860 calls answered ytd and mentioned upcoming school events.

-       Library work contractor will be pouring ballot box cement pad prior to the November election.

-       Code Red message will be made for the upcoming Halloween Bash.

 

Trustee Alana Horkey motioned to pay the bills from October 5, 2023 in the amount of $21,196.25. Trustee Lazette seconded. Motion Carried.

 

Trustee Jaworski motioned to adjourn at 7:59pm. Trustee Lazette supported. Motion carried.

 

The next meeting will be October 24, 2023 at 7:00PM.
